Recommended Books
This is a curated collection of books I’ve read and thoroughly enjoyed. I gravitate toward authors with exceptional writing and storytelling skills, as well as books focused on foundational health rather than fleeting trends. I especially value works authored by the scientists or researchers behind the ideas. I do not receive any compensation for recommending these books.
Good Energy

Why I love it:

Focuses on the very root of all health issues - the health of our mitochondria in our cells that generate all our energy. Weaving together cutting-edge research and personal stories, as well as groundbreaking data from the health technology company Dr. Means founded, Good Energy offers an essential four-week plan.
The book includes inexpensive tools and technology to “see inside your body” and take action, six lifelong food principles you can implement whether you’re carnivore or vegan, a new framework for exercise focused on building simple movement into everyday activities, how cold and heat exposure helps build our body’s resilience, and steps to navigate the medical system to get what you need for optimal health.
The Hormone Balance Bible

Why I love it:

Called “America’s Holistic Gynecologist,” Dr. Shawn Tassone shares his insights from decades of research and clinical work with tens of thousands of patients. Dr. Tassone validates the feeling so many women have had when their symptoms are dismissed by their doctors.

This book includes the Integrative Hormone Mapping Quiz—an easy-to-understand diagnostic tool, readers can apply their specific hormonal archetype to his six-step SHINES Protocol: Spiritual Practice, Hormones, Infoceuticals, Nutrition, Exercise, and Supplements.
Forever Strong

Why I love it:

As a lifelong athlete, I have noticed that women have a very dysfunctional relationship to building muscle and are overly afraid of building "big" muscles and tend to ignore muscle health altogether.

Dr. Gabrielle Lyon shares an important message - that the skeletal muscle system is the body’s largest endocrine organ and that muscle actually determines everything about the trajectory of health and aging. Many of the conditions Dr. Lyon’s patients were experiencing were actually symptoms of underdeveloped or unhealthy muscle.
This book offers an easy-to-follow food, fitness, and self-care program anchored in evidence and pioneering research that teaches you how to optimize muscle—no matter your age or health background.
